Pet grooming in Subang Jaya: your options, what it costs, and how to choose (2026)

Subang Jaya has more pet groomers per square kilometre than almost anywhere in the Klang Valley. USJ 21 alone has three on the same street. That is good news for pet parents, and confusing. This guide lists the main options in plain terms, explains what you should get for your money, and gives you a short checklist for choosing.

We run one of these salons, so read the PGH entry as what we offer rather than a neutral review. Everything else is drawn from each business's own public listings.

The main grooming options in Subang Jaya and USJ

If you have a cat, the cat-only specialists are worth a look. If you have a dog, or a dog and a cat, the choice narrows to the full-service salons.

What a groom should include

A basic groom is not just a bath. Whatever the salon calls it, check that it covers:

  • Nails cut and filed
  • Ears cleared and the hair under the ear flap shaved
  • Sanitary area and paw pads shaved
  • Anal glands expressed (dogs)
  • Bath with a shampoo matched to the coat, then a proper blow dry and brush-out
  • A tidy of the face and paws

A full groom adds a whole-body trim or breed style. Dematting, medicated shampoo, tick and flea treatment, and coat treatments are usually add-ons everywhere.

At PGH the basic dog groom includes all of the above, and the cat groom adds a massage while washing, which most cats tolerate better than a plain rinse.

What it costs

Prices across Subang Jaya cluster in similar bands. The differences come from size, coat length, condition, and whether styling is included.

Service Typical range in Subang Jaya At PGH
Basic groom, small dog RM40–70 from RM50
Basic groom, medium dog RM60–100 from RM80
Basic groom, large dog RM100–180 from RM150
Full groom with styling, small dog RM80–130 from RM90
Cat groom RM40–120 from RM85
Dematting RM15–40 from RM15 (dogs), RM20 (cats)
Tick or flea treatment RM20–40 from RM35 (dogs), RM25 (cats)

"From" means the price for a small, well-kept coat. A matted Poodle or a Persian that has not been brushed will cost more at every salon, because it takes longer. A good groomer quotes before starting.

Seven questions to ask before you book

  1. Is the price quoted before work starts? It should be.
  2. How many pets are groomed at once? One per groomer is the standard for safety.
  3. Where does my pet wait before and after? A crate for an hour is fine. A crate for the whole day is not.
  4. What do you do if my pet panics? Listen for "we stop and take a break", not "we hold them tighter".
  5. Do you check for ticks, mats and skin problems, and will you tell me? This is half the value of a professional groom.
  6. Can I see the grooming area? Clean tub, clean table, no strong smell.
  7. Can I read recent reviews? Google and Facebook, including how the owner answers complaints.

When PGH is the right fit

Choose PGH if you want grooming and boarding under one roof, you would rather drop off inside a mall with parking and security than a shop lot, or your pet needs the extras: anaesthesia-free dental cleaning, a spa treatment, or a groom at the end of a hotel stay. Book on WhatsApp with your pet's breed and we will quote before you come in.

If you only need a quick home wash for a calm short-haired dog, a mobile groomer may be cheaper. Both are fine choices. The wrong choice is leaving a coat for months because the options felt confusing.

Questions we get asked

How much does dog grooming cost in Subang Jaya?
Basic grooms for small dogs start around RM40 to RM60 at most salons. At PGH a basic groom is from RM50 for small breeds, RM80 medium and RM150 large, and a full groom with styling from RM90. Coat condition and matting add to the price everywhere.
How much does cat grooming cost in Subang Jaya?
Expect roughly RM40 to RM120 depending on coat length and whether a shave or dematting is needed. PGH's basic cat groom is from RM85 and includes a massage bath, blow dry, comb-out, nails, ears and a sanitary shave.
Should I pick a salon, a home groomer or a mobile groomer?
A salon has a proper tub, dryer and table and a second pair of hands if a pet struggles. Home and mobile groomers suit very anxious pets or owners without transport. For a first groom or a difficult coat, a salon is the safer choice.
