PGH – Pets Grooming Hotel

Dog dental cleaning · No anaesthesia

Dental hygiene is one of the most overlooked parts of a dog's health. PGH hosts a visiting animal dentist who removes tartar by hand, gently and drug-free, after a short wellness check.

How it works

  1. 1. Wellness check. A brief exam first. If extractions or gum treatment are needed, you are referred to your vet instead.
  2. 2. Hand scaling. The dentist holds your dog on his lap, talks to him, and removes tartar with hand tools only. 20 to 40 minutes.
  3. 3. Home care advice. You leave with clean teeth and a plan to keep them that way. Read our home dental care guide.

Only routine cleanings are performed. Only calm, hand-friendly dogs are suitable. This is not a replacement for veterinary dental treatment.

Common questions

Is anaesthesia-free dental cleaning safe?
For calm, hand-friendly dogs, yes. There is no sedation, so none of the risks that come with it. The dentist holds the dog on his lap and works with hand tools only, stopping if the dog becomes distressed.
Which dogs are not suitable?
Dogs that are aggressive, very fearful, or that need extractions or treatment for gum disease. Every dog has a brief wellness check first, and anything beyond a routine clean is referred to your vet.
How long does it take?
About 20 to 40 minutes for the cleaning itself.
How often should it be done?
Every six to twelve months for most dogs, sooner for small breeds that build tartar quickly. Daily brushing at home between cleanings makes the biggest difference.
