Cat hotels in Subang Jaya: what to look for, and how PGH's cat rooms work
A practical guide to cat boarding in Subang Jaya and USJ: why cats need different care from dogs, what a good cat hotel provides, typical prices, and what to expect at PGH.
By PGH Team · Published

Cats board differently from dogs. A dog settles once it has had a walk and met the staff. A cat settles once the room is quiet, the smells are familiar and nobody is looming over it. A hotel built around dogs can be a stressful place for a cat even when the care is good. Here is what to look for, and what we do at PGH.
What a good cat hotel provides
- A separate cat area. Not just a cat cage in the dog room. Cats should not see, hear or smell dogs from their room.
- A room, not a carrier. Space for a litter tray at one end, a bed at the other, and somewhere to sit above floor level.
- A quiet routine. Feeding and litter changes at set times, handling only when the cat invites it.
- Daily cleaning with a litter change. Ask how often, and with what.
- Parasite control on check-in. One cat with fleas becomes every cat with fleas.
- A policy for cats that stop eating. Staff should notice by the second missed meal and tell you.
- Updates. A photo on WhatsApp settles most owners faster than a phone call.
Cat boarding options around Subang Jaya
Subang Jaya has several cat-only hotels, which tells you how much demand there is. Catzonia (USJ 21), Maobulous, Meow Zone and Catswell (SS19) all specialise in cats. Swirly & Friends offers home-based boarding with individual cat rooms. PetBacker lists home sitters.
PGH is different in one way: it is a grooming salon and hotel for both dogs and cats, inside a mall. If you have a cat only, the specialists are a fair choice. If you have a cat and a dog and want one drop-off, or you want a groom at the end of the stay, PGH is the practical option. See how to choose a pet hotel for the questions to ask any of them.
How the PGH cat hotel works
- Rooms. Cat guests stay in private, air-conditioned, glass-fronted rooms away from the dog rooms. Deluxe Rooms are 3 by 3 feet and Presidential Rooms 6 by 6 feet. Litter is provided.
- Rates. Deluxe RM35 per night, Presidential RM50 per night, RM15 per night for an additional cat from the same home. Full rates and terms.
- Routine. You bring your cat's usual food. Rooms are cleaned and disinfected twice a day with UV sterilising light. Flea, tick and mite prevention is applied on check-in.
- Security. Main Place Mall is guarded 24 hours and staff have CCTV monitoring.
- Updates. Ask at check-in and the team will send photos on WhatsApp during the stay.
- Check-out. By 8pm the following day. Stays over six nights include a free basic groom, which for a long-haired cat is a real bonus.
What to pack for a cat stay
Their usual food for the whole stay, any medication with written instructions, a blanket or t-shirt that smells of home, and a covered carrier for the journey. Leave bowls and litter at home; they are provided. Our boarding preparation checklist has the full list.

Questions we get asked
- How much does a cat hotel cost in Subang Jaya?
- Roughly RM30 to RM60 per night for a standard room, more for larger suites. PGH's cat Deluxe Room is RM35 per night and the Presidential Room RM50, with RM15 per night for a second cat sharing.
- Can two cats share a room?
- At PGH, cats from the same home can share a Presidential Room. Cats that do not live together are never housed together.
- Will my cat eat while boarding?
- Most cats skip the first meal and eat normally from day two. Bringing their usual food and a blanket that smells of home makes the biggest difference. Tell the hotel if your cat has not eaten for 24 hours; staff will let you know.
