How to choose a pet hotel in Subang Jaya: 10 questions to ask before you book
What to look for in dog and cat boarding around Subang Jaya, USJ and Puchong: room size, cleaning routine, parasite control, security, play time, updates and the terms that matter.
By PGH Team · Published

Subang Jaya, USJ and Puchong have more boarding options than ever: home boarders, vet clinics, kennels on the city edge and dedicated pet hotels. Price is the easy comparison. These ten questions are the useful one.
1. Where will my pet actually sleep?
Ask to see the room, not a photo. Is it a cage, a kennel run or an enclosed room? How big is it? At PGH, Deluxe Rooms are 3 by 3 feet and Presidential Rooms are 6 by 6 feet, glass-fronted and air-conditioned. Whatever the answer, make sure it suits your pet's size and temperament.
2. How often is it cleaned, and with what?
Daily is the minimum. Twice daily with disinfectant and UV sterilising, as PGH does, is better. Ask specifically about the litter and toilet area for cats.
3. What is the parasite policy?
A hotel that does not insist on flea, tick and mite prevention for every guest will eventually have an outbreak. Compulsory prevention on check-in is a sign the hotel takes it seriously.
4. Will my pet be mixed with others?
Supervised play time with suitable dogs is good for sociable dogs and stressful for others. Cats should never share space with dogs. Ask how groups are chosen and whether you can opt out.
5. Who is on site, and when?
Is anyone there overnight? If not, what security exists? A mall location such as Main Place gives 24-hour guards and CCTV even when the shop is closed.
6. Can I check in on my pet?
Photo or video updates on WhatsApp, on request or on a schedule. Ask whether there is a charge.
7. What happens in an emergency?
Which vet do they use, how far is it, and will they contact you first? You should be asked to consent to emergency care and to confirm who pays. PGH's terms spell this out before check-in.
8. What about food and medication?
Most reputable hotels ask you to bring your pet's own food to avoid stomach upsets. Confirm they can give medication on schedule and whether there is a charge.
9. What are the check-out rules?
Late collection usually counts as an extra night. PGH's check-out is 8pm the following day. Know this before you book a late flight home.
10. What do real customers say?
Read the recent Google and Facebook reviews, not just the five-star ones. Look at how the owner responds to complaints. A calm, factual reply tells you more than the rating.
Putting it together
A hotel that answers all ten clearly, shows you the rooms, and has written terms is one you can trust. If you are comparing options around Subang Jaya, you are welcome to visit PGH on the ground floor of Main Place Mall, USJ 21, and ask us every one of these. Questions we get asked
- Is a pet hotel in a mall a good idea?
- It has real advantages: 24-hour security, covered parking, a jockey area for drop-offs, and staff never alone with the premises at night. The trade-off is no outdoor garden, so ask how exercise is handled.
- How much does pet boarding cost in Subang Jaya?
- Expect roughly RM35 to RM150 per night depending on the pet, room size and facilities. PGH charges RM50 for a dog Deluxe Room and RM35 for a cat Deluxe Room, with larger Presidential rooms available.
- Should I visit before booking?
- Yes. A good hotel will show you the rooms and the cleaning routine. If they will not, book elsewhere.
